From 1 October 2025, a fee of £9.58 will be paid for each childhood flu vaccination administered to a patient aged 2 or 3 years old.
Older children may be included in this service in the future, if authorised by NHS England.
The first vaccine for the service is the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV). This vaccine is centrally supplied and you cannot claim for the cost of it.
The second vaccine is the cell-cultured inactivated influenza vaccine (IIVc). You’ll be reimbursed the basic price of the vaccine. This vaccine should only be administered to patients who are unsuitable for LAIV.
No other vaccines are authorised for this service.
Fees will be payable where you meet the requirements of the service.
Further information is available in part VIC of the Drug Tariff.
Claiming
The claim for activity for each month must be made using the manage your service (MYS) portal no later than the fifth of the following month.
If there's a bank holiday within the first 5 days of the following month, claims for payment must be submitted by the sixth of the month.
You can only make one claim per month for this service.
Later submissions will be accepted but only if made within 3 months of the date which the claim should have been submitted.
Later claims will not be paid unless the submission was delayed by IT issues outside of your control.
These claims can be accepted within 12 months of when the claim should have been submitted, providing you send evidence of the IT issue to the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA).
